And the winner is... Pipsqueak!!!
As in the past, Pipsqueak is in the lead! Her pictures don't do her justice. She's soooo wide that it makes her mammary look small and it's definitely not! She fills so far into her foreudder, too.
Kissimmee is hot on her heels AND she's recovering from a case of mastitis that wasn't cleared when she dried off last year. We did a new culture and swapped some meds and we're seeing her production return on the right side. Not sure if we'll get her even in time for shows but we'll see! But she may be edging out Pipsqueak if that production comes back!
Coming in 3rd and a huge WOW as Foxy is way smaller than both of her competitors. Foxy is one of our smaller does weighing 75 lbs. That's a lot of milk for a little goat!! Pipsqueak weighed in a 94 lbs and Kissimmee at 92 lbs. Pound for pound, Foxy certainly would win this production contest!
AND NOW FOR THE REAL NEWS!!!!
This milk test was long. It took us 2 hours to milk 11 does. There's a lot of milk to handle, weigh, and sample. And we had to do that 3 times - milk out, milk 12 hrs later, and then 12 hrs later again. And bottle feed 26 kids throughout that 24 hours while they are away from moms. So, what does all that mean?? It means that we need to SELL SOME MILKERS!!!

What’s a Mini Boer, you ask? A Nigerian Dwarf buck crossed with a Boer doe - makes a Mini Boer! Smaller than boers but still have that classic boer shape.
She's a nice doe but our focus is really our Nigerian herd. She's super gentle with her small herd mates but we struggle to breed her without having a Boer buck. She's not a great AI candidate, we've tried. She really deserves to be in a good quality Boer herd where she can shine! She's got a lovely udder for a Boer... she had to or we wouldn't have her here - remember, we're a dairy goat herd where udder's truly matter! She kidded 2 yrs ago with a single mini-boer (pictured), unassisted. Bee's such a great mom - kid was dry and nursing and she never even made a sound!
